Peter J. Lesser is an attorney and licensed realty broker based in Century City, Los Angeles. In addition to his work on behalf of select litigation and probate/trust clients, Peter enjoys a growing reputation as an independent mediator, assisting in the resolution of pre-litigation and litigated disputes on a negotiated basis.
Peter mediates throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties, and the Palm Springs Valley of Riverside County; he has conducted over 450 mediations to date, with consistently excellent results and recommendations. As a mediator, Peter helps achieve resolution by being a good listener, a probing questioner of all parties' positions, and an active, creative and persistent consensus builder.
Peter is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law (J.D.), the London School of Economics and Political Science (M.Sc.), and Oberlin College (B.A.). In 2003, Peter received his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu.
Peter has been a licensed California real estate broker since 2004, and earned his GRI designation (Graduate, Realtors Institute) in 2007. In recent years, Peter has developed particular expertise in mediating residential and commercial real estate disputes, as well as construction, development and Homeowners' Association matters. Peter regularly conducts mandatory pre-litigation mediations pursuant to section 26(a) of the California Association of Realtors' Residential Purchase Agreement, and is qualified as an arbitrator under section 26(b) of that Agreement.
Peter continues to represent a limited number of individual and business clients in civil and appellate litigation, particularly in the areas of business, real estate, probate/trust and major tort litigation. Peter is also available to assist with probate and trust adminstration matters, including service as probate counsel to the executors of decedents' estates, and counsel to sucessor trustees of testamentary trusts.
